Questions and Answers:

Who can be in Warwick Round Table?

Men aged from 18*. To keep Round Table a young mans’ association, traditionally members had to leave at 40. Recently this national age ruling was increased to 45. Round Table is for, and run by, young men. In WRT the majority of Tablers are within their late twenties and in their thirties, but we have members younger than this and a handful knocking on the door of a ‘throwing out party’ (and still going strong — bless em). Any age is more than welcome, but we would particularly encourage men in their early twenties to get involved — you’re the Chairmen of the future!

Warwick Round Table is also known as Warwick and District Round Table, but anyone living in or around Warwick is welcome. We currently have members living in Leamington, Kenilworth, Knowle, Rowington and Solihull. So if you live in the surrounding area, you have no excuse!

What type of person is in Warwick Round Table?

WRT members come from many sides of employed life. Including: Retailers, Sales representatives, Car mechanic,. Company directors, Carpet salesman, Accountant, Estate agents, Hairdresser, Account managers, Town Council civil servant, Foreman, Computer software supplier, IT professional, Printer and the list is always changing. We’re a right mixed bag!

Some members are married — others have got more sense. Some are fathers — others are still trying their luck each weekend.

Some Round Tables are "stuffy". We aren’t. WRT is not a "gentleman’s" club!

Why should you contact Warwick Round Table?

What’s involved and when do we meet?

WRT meets twice a month — every first and third Tuesday, 7.00PM for 7.30PM. Most meetings involve a meal and usually finishes around 10.30PM / 11PM. However, these dates are complemented by a host of additional and optional get togethers for varying reasons.

Where a month carries a fifth Tuesday, we take the opportunity to hold a ‘mixed event’. This involves inviting wives and girlfriends, who subsequently also make new friends.

Tablers can still attend these singly and often these events are postponed until the following Friday or Saturday.

On average around seven of the years’ official meetings are used as business meetings, where charitable, financial, organisational, and other matters are discussed. These are an inherent, and regularly most entertaining, part of being in Table.

Each Tabler is issued with a handy and professionally printed directory. This lists all the members and their individual contact information, plus the years’ entire diary of events and meetings. Usually, each member receives an email prior to each meeting, which includes further detail about the event, such as special clothing or bring your own beer!

What if you need to leave due to future work commitments?

If in the future your work requires you to leave the area for a period of time, you can apply for a leave of absence. If ever you need to relocate altogether, then you can transfer your membership to your new local club. This also makes it easy to meet people in your new area.

We often have Tablers transfer from other areas and join Warwick Round Table.

How much does it cost?

In order to cover the costs of running Table and the two official monthly meetings (which include organised events such as Go-Karting and a meal), each Tabler needs to complete a Bank standing-order and pay a monthly ‘subs’ of £35 (at time of writing).

When you have a look at the things we get up to and the food we eat, you will realise what great value Table offers and how cost effective it is! (You're not charged for events you don’t attend).

You also make a small annual payment to national Table, which covers many costs, including insurance to cover you for some of the daft things you’ll be getting up to! In WRT this is usually around fifty quid (At time of writing). You also receive regular club magazines from the national Table movement.

What next and how to contact us?

After you have contacted us, (visit the Contact page) our membership officer or a member who lives locally to you, will contact you to invite you to a meeting as his guest. He will bring you himself; so you shouldn’t feel too daunted being by yourself. This will happen several times and you simply pay cash as you go. There is no commitment, even if you just come the once. Its’ no big deal and you will be able to observe and get a feel for the organisation and the group.

If it’s not your cup of tea — thanks for coming. If you’re interested — come again. It’s that simple.

Many Tablers made contact with WRT by themselves and have never looked back. Many of us have been there so we’ll remember to make it easy for you, and we are a very relaxed bunch of characters, so you will be surprised at how quickly you get to know us.

In no time at all you can become one of us. We are currently only the custodians of WRT — it’s your right to pay us a visit!

Don’t forget, you might prefer to ask a friend or a work colleague to come along too, if you would prefer familiar company. Each of you should forward your details and a Tabler will contact you both. However, at any one time there is rarely a meeting without a Tabler who has been with us long over a year or a meeting without another guest in a similar position to yourself.
