Our news for 2010:
MESSING ABOUT ON THE RIVER
August 2010 — Author: TMC.
There was an excellent turnout at the Leam Boat Centre for the 'Splash my Sausage' Event where tablers went out on the River Leam for a 'cruise' in a variety of canoes, kayaks, rowing boats and motor boats.
Despite the best efforts of some, no-one ended up in the river despite some blatant drinking and driving (or paddling).
Afterwards Chairman Tim and Vice Chairman Allan smoked everyone out cooking burgers on the BBQ whilst everyone stood around drinking beer.
It was an excellent evening made all the better by the number of guests from our new members evening who came along also.
WARWICK BOAT CLUB FUNDRAISER
July 2010 — Author: TMC.
Warwick Round Table supported the annual Boat Club summer BBQ by selling Strawberries and Ice Creams to raise money for local causes as well as raising the profile of Warwick Round Table.
Entering into the spirit of the event, Round Table took party in the 'punt' races and despite almost getting disqualified for soaking the 'California Girls' team after crashing into to them round the buoy, managed to finish an admiral second having been well and truly trounced in the final race.
Despite all this excitement, there were actually some people selling ice creams and strawberries, which seemed to go down very well with the other guests.
With fantastic weather, a perfect venue and some good laughs (and a fair amount of water) a really fun night was had by all who attended.
FAMILY SUNDAY LUNCH
June 2010 — Author: TMC.
On one of the hottest sundays since records began a few tablers met at The Waterman pub in Hatton for lunch with their families. Afterwards Ash and Jen kindly invited everyone back to theirs to watch some Sunday league team called England get well and truly trounced. Whilst the children soaked themselves in water the girls soaked up the sun and the boys soaked up the cider.
QUAD BIKING & BBQ
June 2010 — Author: TMC.
In a rare moment of revolutionary madness, Warwick Round Table met on a Wednesday night to go Quad Biking through the woods of Wedgenock Adventure Sports in Warwick.
Two teams of 5 set off following the instructor and battled the rugged terrain travelling through muddy ditches, over tree trunks and through the woods for an exhilirating experience. Only a selected few got stuck along the route and had to be helped (or dragged in my case) out of the muddy ditch before continuing the adventure.
It was topped off by a magnificent BBQ cooked by our in-house BBQ expert (John) and washed down with a few beers on a lovely sunny summers evening.
TAKE A WALK ON THE DARK SIDE
June 2010 — Author: TMC.
A group of Warwick Round Tablers braved the wet June weather to partake in a private guided tour of the folklore, myths and history of Warwick. Our guide, Andy, told us about the prominent people who lived in the area including Robert Dudley who may, or may not, have married Queen Elizabeth I. We learned about the places in Warwick where people were jailed, tried and then hanged as well as the various haunted places around the town. And if you ever see a large black dog roaming wild...... run!
MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOW!
May 2010 — Author: TMC.
Last week saw a group of tablers dust off their light sabres and head down to Quasar in Coventry for a magnificent night of Laser Quest.
Some exemplary displays of lethargy and distain followed and all tablers gave up trying to be Darth Vader or Rambo after only a few minutes.
Energy levels were restored with a fantastic chicken burger from Nandos and talk of the forthcoming fellowship calendar.
CHAIRMAN TIM TAKES THE REINS
April 2010 — Author: TMC.
On Saturday 17th April the Warwick Round Table AGM was held at Petit Gourmand restaurant in Kenilworth.
On a beautiful spring evening, many donned their sunglasses for the first time albeit this may have been more to do with James' shirt than the sunshine.
Excellent food and wine was enjoyed by all along with some good fellowship and the usual banter!
At some point James handed over the reins to the new Chairman, Tim although no-one is quite sure when or how.
Tim talked about the excellent fellowship calendar which has been planned including events such as 'On All Fours in the Brown Stuff' and 'A Fumble in the Dark' and some other stuff that we can't quite remember so well.
The year promises to offer plenty of fellowship, fundraising and causes in support of our drive to gain new members.
Why not come along to our New Member's evening on Tuesday 20th July and find out more?
